Amber Perry – Yoga Teacher
What is your why?
Nothing brings me greater joy than loving and serving others.
How did you get started?
I’ve loved yoga for many years now but it took my dear friend teaching yoga in a homeless shelter on Skid Row to show me that yoga is truly for everyone. That gave me the drive to pursue teaching.
What pushes you to continue?
I feel like I am growing every day that I teach or practice yoga in any form. Seeing others find that connection makes it so worthwhile.
Who was your biggest yogi influence and why?
I could cite the wonderful, influential Patanjali, Iyengar, or Desikachar, but truly all the yogis and yoginis I come across leave an imprint on me, my teaching, and my practice. My teaching instructor Tanya Rice gave me guidance that will last a lifetime, and all the students I come across show me how to be a better teacher.
How long teaching and in what styles?
I’ve been practicing for 10+ years and graduated this summer (2018) from Azitala’s RYT-200 program. I love teaching gentle, slow flow, beginner, and restorative but have so much fun exploring other styles!
Hasn’t changed since childhood: chocolate chip cookies & books!
“Even after all this time, the sun never says to the earth, ‘You owe me.’ Look what happens with a love like that, it lights the whole sky.” ~Hafiz
